Job Summary

This position is located in the General Accounting (FRG) organization of Finance (F), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). Finance provides financial planning, accounting, and reporting for the Federal Columbia River Power System (FCRPS) and BPA. The purpose of this position is to serve as an accountant responsible for independently planning and conducting a variety of challenging accounting activities and assignments.

Portland is the one place where you will find lively festivals, energetic music, mouthwatering food, and for you basketball fans, the Portland Trail Blazers are a 7-minute walk from the HQs building! There is always something new to experience in this eco-friendly town! As an Accountant, you will: Plan and conduct accounting activities and assignments independently, selecting and applying appropriate methods based on available information and guides. Serve as technical analyst researching and providing guidance on difficult, unique, or complex accounting issues and new standards (e.g., GAAP, FASB, FASAB, FERC, OMB). Provide accounting theory analysis, technical advice, and recommendations to business units, CFO's office, executive management, DOE, OMB, and external entities. Write financial reports (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows) and disclosures, working with external auditors, finance management, and legal counsel to defend them. Maintain continuing relationships with internal management, technical staff, DOE, OMB, peer agencies, utility specialists, and other stakeholders on accounting matters. Serve as accounting lead coordinating implementations and projects involving cross-agency work teams and external entities.
