This Accountant position is located in Fiscal Service at the Manchester, NH VA Medical Center location. This position is a Full-Time position at 40 hours per week.
Major Duties: - Plans, coordinates and performs one-time/recurring comprehensive reviews, special studies and selective internal examinations of finance and accounting functions. - Verifies reports with source documents and records, reconciling accounts, investigating to determine if transactions are in accordance with pertinent laws and regulations. - Applies a professional knowledge of accounting theories, principles, practices, and automated systems. - Utilizes a large body of guidelines, regulations and statutory requirements to identify such accounting problems as: inadequate maintenance of fund control, inaccurate records and reports, and lack of documentary evidence to support the performance of regulatory reconciliations. - Performs a variety of audit assignments of low to medium complexity that usually have precedence and require the use of conventional and advanced auditing techniques in gathering and evaluating pertinent data - Documents survey results in accordance with Comptroller General Standards and VA policies - Follows approved audit steps and a wide range of audit techniques (e.g., interviews, computer assisted audit techniques, statistical analysis and questionnaires) in gathering, documenting and summarizing data - Prepares accurate and complete reports on results of reviews, including pertinent facts, conclusions and recommendations Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Compressed/Flexible: Not Authorized Telework: This position may be authorized for telework.
