The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office whose mission is to promote excellence, integrity, and accountability throughout the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In our dynamic environment, the OIG conducts investigations, audits, evaluations, and inspections to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency and to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and mismanagement in DHS programs and operations.
This position is located in the Acquisitions and Special Programs Division, Office of Management, Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).Typical assignments include: Provides definitive guidance to DHS OIG acquisition personnel by researching applicable laws and regulations, providing training, making recommendations to the supervisor on procurement-related issues, and discussing procurement-related issues with other agency personnel.
Reviews the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Homeland Security Acquisition Manual (HSAM), and other acquisition policies and procedural issuances to support adherence and effectiveness in all aspects of acquisition and assistance programs within the OIG. Serves as principal contracting advisor to OIG offices and represents OIG as its contractual authority at conferences and meetings. Develops techniques for measuring the effectiveness of DHS OIG acquisition operations.
Develops, coordinates, presents, and facilitates acquisition training sessions for agency personnel by researching current problems and issues, and uses current regulations, policies, procedures and experience as the basis for preparing presentation materials and curriculum to enhance agency program staff competencies in acquisition business processes.
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement).
