Job Summary

The Administrative Analyst position is in the Department of Program Services, Judicial Services Office (JSO), Judicial Programs Division (JPD). JSO provides support, services, and programs addressing the administrative, governance, and policy needs of federal judges Article III courts territorial district courts, Court of Federal Claims, bankruptcy courts, and magistrate judges and their staffs.

Key Responsibilities

This position is in the Judicial Programs Division and reports to the Division Chief. The Administrative Analyst provides support to Judicial Services Office management and the Judicial Policy and Judicial Programs Divisions by performing a variety of high-level administrative, logistical, and program assistance functions.

This incumbent serves as an administrative and program analyst within the Judicial Programs Division and is responsible for managing and coordinating national judiciary programs related to the vacancy, selection, appointment, reappointment, and recall of U.S. bankruptcy and magistrate judges, and age 70 provisions for U.S. magistrate judges.

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Managing the full lifecycle of bankruptcy and magistrate judge vacancy, appointment, reappointment, recall, and age 70 processes.

Serving as the primary point of contact for selectees for bankruptcy judgeship and magistrate judge position vacancies, chief judges, bankruptcy judges, magistrate judges, circuit executives, clerks of court, court HR personnel, and other judiciary stakeholders involved in the bankruptcy and magistrate judge selection, appointment, and reappointment process.

Coordinating background investigations for newly selected bankruptcy and magistrate judges through the National Background Investigation System Electronic Application process. Preparing and coordinating official correspondence, memoranda, appointment materials, investigative documentation, and judiciary notifications.

Maintaining and updating judiciary records, rosters, chambers staffing allocations, vacancy tracking reports, historical appointment data, recall records, and databases. Developing, updating, and maintaining judiciary guidance, policy implementation documents, forms, procedures, and informational resources. Performing analysis and providing data related to magistrate judge positions, recalls, and staffing projections.

Managing and maintaining electronic filing systems, SharePoint records, JNet content, and document management processes. Participating in special projects and systems modernization initiatives related to judiciary operations and bankruptcy and magistrate judge appointment processes. Providing common administrative functions for the Judicial Services Office, including phone coverage and updating and posting the daily bulletin, on an as needed basis.

Serving as back-up support for Judicial Services Office judge programs and meetings and working on other projects, reports, and publications, as assigned.
