This position is located in the Social Work Service in the office of the Service Chief. This is a large and complex service with employees and programs at all sites at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System. The role is to assist the Chief in the principal objective of optimal utilization of staff, space, equipment and operating funds.
Performs administrative coordination for all components of the Service programs: inpatient, ambulatory care, specialized programs, training staff education and clinical research. Acts as liaison with the human resources office, coordinates personnel actions (hiring, transfers, termination etc.) boarding process of employees, maintains personnel related records. Makes recommendations for best utilization of personnel resources. Assures accuracy of position descriptions and functional statements. Communicates, interprets, and advises on federal and agency personnel policies, regulations, and procedures. Provides advice on solving complex personnel related problems. Maintains the Social Work service general post fund with Voluntary Service and Fiscal Service. Monitors budgets by reconciling expenditures are properly authorized and documented. Manages the procurement of supplies and services. Plans and coordinates office moves. Serves as the ADP Service Coordinator. Manages all correspondence, incoming, and outgoing for CNH program. Prepares files and charts in a timely manner, ensuring that all relevant. correspondences and clinical material pertinent to CNH/HHA/ADH is in place. Performs clerical duties to facilitate treatment and discharge planning. Responds and triages telephone calls. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:00am - 4:30pm.
