This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The technologist independently reviews each patient's requisition to assure that the patient history and area of chief complaint is consistent with the exam requested. If a discrepancy exists, the technologist will make a independent determination; take appropriate corrective action, including contacting the referring physician or nurse manager if necessary.
The technologist will need to interview the patient to confirm clinical information, if some information indicates a contraindication the technologist will consult with the cardiologist, radiologist, or surgeon. Major duties include: Assists in fluoroscopy with the internal and external placement of cardiac pacemaker. Checks on the control panels, monitors and recorders for proper function and oversees the correct and proper settings of the radiographic equipment.
Assists the cardiologist, the nurses and cardiovascular technicians by performing other ancillary tasks in order to function as an integral member of the cardiac catheterization team. Familiar with a wide variety of computerized equipment to include: angiographic and CT equipment, digital fluoroscopy, PACS viewing stations, and hospital computer systems such as VISTA and CPRS. Make continuous assessments of the image quality and equipment function for optimum performance.
Determine if the image quality problem can be corrected independently or if the problem needs to be reported to the supervisor arid or to biomedical engineering.
Assists/or will be expected to assist the physicians in the special procedures lab with procedures such as right heart catheterization, left heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, Medi port placement, permcath placement, pericardiocentesis, peripheral vascular angiography, peripheral vascular interventions, IVC filters, biopsies and localizations, and interventional pain procedures.
