Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade.

Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties.

Key Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is: an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer to serve as the Maintenance Group Commander/DCM. In this capacity, the incumbent of this position is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities and operations of all maintenance functions within a Group (FG, ARG, AG, etc.). Provides training to reservists in the accomplishment of the tasks set forth herein.

Plans, directs, organizes, and coordinates the maintenance activity within existing policies and objectives. Makes determinations and decisions regarding equipment repair and overhaul capability which directly affect the mission. Establishes policies and goals for the accomplishment of current and projected workloads. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors.

Advises staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters. Selects candidates for subordinate non-supervisory positions directly supervised and recommends and/or approves selections for subordinate supervisory positions taking into consideration skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO and diversity objectives. Represents the wing with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other group commanders, representatives and senior staff at Numbered Air Force, HQ AFRC, gaining MAJCOMs, and Air Staff. Meets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolve significant problems that arise.

Delivers presentations on program status, accomplishments, problems, requirements for support, and promotion of program objectives to senior military officers and civilians in other program offices of the command, with using and supporting commands. Maintains surveillance and ensures effective operation of the maintenance program.

Makes periodic and comprehensive assessment of program through a review of performance indicators, productivity goals and accomplishments, deficiency reports, audit findings, etc. Identifies existing or potential productivity problems and discusses with subordinate supervisors. Ensures that corrective actions or improvement plans are implemented to resolve problems.

Validates maintenance program methods, procedures and policies to ensure that the subordinate supervisors have the flexibility needed to meet the program goals and objectives.
