Job Summary

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.

Key Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is: to verify and analyze on and off equipment, malfunctions, troubleshoot, calibrate, modify, fabricate, test, align, inspect, repair, configure, deconfigure, and load assigned integrated nuclear/conventional weapons delivery systems; and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.

The organizational location of this position is: Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC), 10th Air Force (10th AF), 419th Fighter Wing (419 FW), 419th Maintenance Group (419 MXG), Maintenance Squadron (MXS), Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah. The organizational goals or objectives of this position are to maintain integrated airborne weapons control, release systems and equipment and to configure, deconfigure, and load integrated weapons delivery systems.

Duties: 1: Troubleshoots integrated nuclear/conventional weapons systems, electronic and electromechanical components, fire control systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, subassemblies, Alternate Mission Equipment, and test equipment to determine nature of malfunctions and corrective actions required both on and off equipment.

Controls tools, cleans work area and equipment and completes work control documents in accordance with established procedures. 2: Performs maintenance, repair, inspection, fabrication and modification of integrated nuclear/conventional weapons systems electronic and electro-mechanical components, fire control systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, and their subassemblies for both on and off equipment.

Performs explosive operations, loads and unloads, positions, arms, and safes all assigned nuclear/conventional air munitions and pyrotechnics on assigned aircraft and or equipment. 3: Removes/installs integrated nuclear/conventional weapons systems electronic components, fire control systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, and subassemblies for both on and off equipment and associated test equipment.

Performs pretest, operational, functional, electrical, mechanical, and final testing of integrated nuclear/conventional weapon systems electronic components fire control systems, electro-environmental systems, bomb navigation systems, and their subassemblies both on and off equipment.

4: Accomplishes configuration changes of integrated nuclear/conventional weapons control, launch, release, and suspension assemblies on assigned aircraft and equipment based on mission requirements. Plans and conducts training of reserve personnel, Active Duty and other employees. Plans for and trains assigned personnel on data, tools, and equipment necessary to perform weapons operations and to meet peacetime and wartime requirements.
