Key Responsibilities

NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Asset Protection Specialist FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt JOB SERIES: 0085 PAY LEVEL: NF-03 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In accordance with existing Navy and Marine Corps security regulations assist the Supervisory Asset Protection Specialist with implementing and conducting the Physical Security and Loss Prevention (PS/LP) program for Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) on Okinawa, Camp Fuji, Japan and Camp Mujuk, South Korea.

Assists the Supervisory Asset Protection Specialist with evaluating and installing security measures to include, Closed Circuit Television systems, security mirrors, other devices to ensure protection of customer and company assets, to include property, funds, and other materials are not compromised, stolen, misused, or subjected to malicious mischief.

Conducts Physical Security/Loss Prevention (PS/LP) inspections of MCCS facilities and prepares written reports for facility managers, program managers, and department chiefs to document the results. Provides recommendations to correct identified PS/LP shortfalls and/or procedure violations. Conducts follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with prescribed procedures.

Ensures facilities are complying with security directives as they apply to key control, safe/security container operations, cashier cages, robbery/burglary prevention, and bomb threat procedures. Assists with conducting PS/LP training for managers and employees in internal theft prevention, shoplifting prevention and procedures, and warehouse security.

Assists with Internal Investigations as directed by the Supervisory Asset Protection Specialist and/or the Director, Internal Control, to include conducting interviews, obtaining written statements, researching date, conducting surveillance operations, and preparing written reports.

Serves as a Team Leader for the Asset Protection Associates (Cash Couriers) assigned to Internal Control and in the absence of the Supervisory Asset Protection Specialist serves as their immediate supervisor. Assists other Internal Control employees perform routine inspections and inventories of activities within the organization. Serves as Cash Courier as needed. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.

Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards.

Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
