Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic, forward-thinking, Registered Nurses with outstanding communication skills to serve as the Assistant Nurse Managers (ANM) for our Post Deployment Rehabilitation Program (PREP) department. The Assistant Nurse Manager provides oversight and supervision to assigned direct reports working in the following sections: PREP, and the Outpatient Pain Clinic.

The ANMS effectively manages clinical and administrative responsibilities, as it relates to assigned clinical area.

Key Responsibilities

Duties listed but are not limited to: The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for staffing units on a continual basis and validating data used for the staffing methodology process, if relevant. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. The ANM collaborates with the Nurse Recruiter in the recruitment process. Responsible for the interviewing and selection of qualified candidates.

Responsible for participating in activities supporting nursing excellence, quality improvement, and unit-based and/or organizational-level Shared Governance councils Accountable for utilizing clinical expertise and evidence-based practice to find innovative approaches to address concerns to improve the quality of care provided to our veterans. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.

Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. They promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organizations vision and mission. The ANM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP).

Monitors compliance of accreditation and regulatory standards, ensuring continual readiness for all internal and external reviews/surveys. The incumbent may be required to travel to alternate facilities/sites within the Tampa VA Hospital and Clinics catchment area to provide patient care via cross-coverage or reassignments. Additional duties as assigned may be required.

The ANM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and timely evaluation of individual staff performance through proficiency and appraisal reviews. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
