Job Summary

The position is within the DFC Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Investigations, which conducts proactive investigations and responds to allegations of fraud, abuse, and misconduct, which may result in criminal, civil, or administrative sanctions. The Senior Investigative Attorney serves as the senior legal advisor and counselor to OIG supervisors and investigators, providing advice on legal issues and sensitive matters in investigations conducted by the OIG.

Major Duties

Conducts or assists OIG investigators in conducting investigations involving potential criminal, civil, and administrative violations involving DFC projects, operations, employees, and contractors. Conducts sophisticated research, evaluates applicable laws and policy, and proposes viable solutions on complex or sensitive matters involving OIG investigations. Provides technical legal advice and guidance on extremely complex legal problems involving OIG investigations, which may be unprecedented or require reconsideration of established procedures and policies. Reviews OIG investigative reports and plans. Reviews OIG investigative policies and procedures and recommends improvements and updates, taking into account all relevant legal authorities, including emerging guidelines and case law.

Education

Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school with an LL.B. or J.D., if selected an official transcript will be required. In addition, the selectee will be required to provide proof of an active bar membership.
