This position is located in the Ethics Office and supports the Designated Agency Ethics Official in managing the agency-wide government and legal ethics program. The incumbent performs complex legal duties to provide ethics guidance, assist in policy decisions, enforce Board and court orders related to ethical issues, and support adjudicative functions. The position promotes a strong ethical culture and provides expert advice on government and legal ethics statutes, regulations, and policies.
As a Attorney-Advisor, GS-0905-15, your typical work assignments may include: Serving as a senior attorney providing recommendations and authoritative guidance on complex, often unprecedented and highly sensitive government ethics issues; Performing research, legal analysis, and evaluation of information to support Agency decisions, opinions, and recommendations on ethics questions of significant importance; Rendering legal advice, counsel, and opinions, orally and in writing, including preparing memoranda, pleadings, briefs, and other legal instruments addressing complex ethics issues; Serving as a liaison and advisor to Agency offices, ensuring compliance with ethics laws, regulations, and policies and advising on investigative and litigation strategies; Developing and delivers ethics training programs and represents the Agency in high-level meetings and conferences, including with senior officials and external partners; AND Acting as an Agency legal ethics expert, resolving complex ethical issues and questions that impact NLRA administration, including case investigation, prosecution, and adjudication.
This position has a basic education requirement listed under the Qualifications section of this announcement. (NOTE: Current NLRB Attorneys may not be required to submit a copy of their transcripts. However, NLRB employees within 3 years from receiving their Juris Doctorate degree, must provide a transcript with their application package.) You must meet all qualification requirements. All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
