Key Responsibilities

This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally. This position starts at a salary of $93,728.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $121,849.00 (GS-12, Step 10). The Border Patrol Agent (Borstar Operator) serves as a primary law enforcement officer under 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) and 8412(d), duties and responsibilities include: Serving as an Operator for BORSTAR. Resolving emergency situations and high-risk incidents while reducing the risk of loss of life or serious injury to officers, victims, or innocent third parties.

Providing responses to situations involving civil disturbances, hostage situations, high-risk warrant executions, tactical operations/situations, reconnaissance/surveillance services, civil emergencies (either man-made or natural disasters), and search and rescue operations.

Demonstrating a high level of skill in weaponry, self-defense, confrontation management, aquatics, rappelling, technical rescue, land navigation, law enforcement search and rescue, tracking, air operations, National Incident Management System (NIMS), emergency rescue procedures, tactical medical operations, and waterborne operations.
