Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Operations Support, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, located in Washington, DC. Key Responsibilities

The incumbent serves as a Budget Analyst in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Operations Support (OS), Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner (IEAC), Mission Support Division (MSD).

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an analyst and assist in the formulation and execution of an OS budget of over $500M to include analysis of pay and non-pay funding, position requirements forecasting, budgetary reporting and modeling, and providing administrative and technical advice to OS management and CBP leadership.

This position starts at a salary of $74,678.00 (GS-11, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $138,370 (GS-13 Step 10). Salary: Salary listed reflects the rest of U.S. scale and, if applicable, will be adjusted to meet the locality pay or cost of living expenses of the duty location upon selection. The duties include but are not limited to the following: Assisting with cost projections relating to program and office budgets by reviewing and editing budget requests submitted to ensure conformance with higher-level requirements.

Analyzing (or helping to analyze) budget requests and estimates to identify inconsistencies and imbalances, such as implementing budget controls, checking budget requests for duplication, and reconciling estimates with current levels of expenditures. Serving as a travel liaison and point of contact for related questions to also include providing guidance and oversight of domestic/international travel and field deployments.

Using CBP financial management systems and reporting functions, such as SAP, BFX, Business Warehouse (BW) and BW Analysis or Web Portal for document processing and approvals, analysis and management/leadership reporting, presentations, and recommendations. Supporting emergency operations deployments and task forces formed in response to national emergencies and high priority events.
