Job Summary

You will serve as a Budget Analyst with Office of the Secretary of Interior. This position is located within the Department of the Interior, office of the Secretary, Assistant Secretary Policy Management & Budget, Budget Administration, WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. Salary with locality pay will vary based on current duty station. GS-13 - GS-14 range : $121,785-$187,093. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Independently develops multi-year budget estimates and authoritative recommendations for Departmental leadership. Evaluates programmatic, legislative, and policy changes and incorporates them into budget strategies. Writes high-impact justification materials, position papers, and talking points for senior officials.

Oversees financial execution for assigned accounts, including complex apportionment structures and multi-sourced funding. Advises leadership on reprogramming strategies, risks, execution pace, and funding realignment options. Leads resolution of complex system discrepancies and data-quality issues in the financial system of record. Provides authoritative guidance on fiscal impacts of policy decisions, bureau-level execution risks, and long-term resource requirements.

Leads cost-benefit analyses, program evaluations, and development of analytical models. Represents the Department in engagements with OMB, auditors, and senior Departmental staff. Leads Department-wide special projects, cross functional work groups, and urgent budget drills requiring rapid, expert-level analysis. The position is suitable for telework and the incumbent may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
