The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a budget analyst in the installation's budget office.
Employee performs routine, continuing budget functions involving the formulation, execution, and/or analysis of budgets and economic and cost analysis studies for assigned installation's support activities and organizational components (e.g., communications, personnel management, automated data processing, maintenance, supply, and transportation) and/or segments of substantive programs.
Performs budget formulation work involving review and preparation of annual funding needs for one or more future budget years for assigned, relatively stable organizations, activities, and/or accounts. Reviews and analyzes budget requests submitted by assigned organizations to ensure their consistency, accuracy, and adherence to instructions.
Performs budget execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of funds. Monitors, tracks, and reviews obligations, expenditures, reimbursable orders, and requests for allotments, identifying and reporting differences which are not in keeping with annual work plans. Provides advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
Provides advice on budget and related matters such as types of funding available, effects of budgetary changes on related activities, and status and use of funds. Conducts analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget and/or related information for assigned programs/organizations. Researches and analyzes available factual information, trends in the cost of accomplishing specific work objectives, and/or relationships among organizational needs/objectives.
Performs routine, individual economic analyses and impact studies. Researches and/or verifies costs supporting study and enters costs in accordance with program methodology. Selects and applies analytical techniques. Interprets source information and applies it to the studies/analyses.
