This position is located in the Civil Division, within one of its four operating branches, at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, providing case processing support and supervision of unit staff to ensure compliance with applicable Court rules; Court and division policies and processes; and division business processes and standard operating procedures.
Brief Duties of the Position: Assisting the Branch Supervisor with managing the day-to-day unit operations to meet the tactical objectives and key performance indicator targets derived from the division's Management Action Plan (MAP) and the Court's Strategic Plan. Monitoring and processing cases to ensure compliance with established procedures.
Submitting reports pertaining to: caseload errors; management action plan objectives; key performance indicators; and personnel actions, all of which may be statistical, narrative, or advisory in nature. Making recommendations for new initiatives and improvements; implementing best practices, business processes, and standard operating procedures for efficient operations and effective customer service.
Building, leading, and participating in project teams to accomplish unit or branch objectives, new initiatives, programmatic enhancements, and/or operational improvements. Managing unit staffing and unit logistics to ensure effective operations and a safe work environment. Providing direct supervision of direct reports; planning, delegating, and evaluating work to be accomplished by subordinates; and, setting and adjusting work priorities.
Ensuring a collaborative employee performance management approach by managing: the development and implementation of performance plans and evaluations; continuous feedback, coaching, and rewarding of staff; documentation of satisfactory and unsatisfactory performance; the timely addressing of performance issues; and the issuance of corrective actions, as needed, in accordance with Court policy and division procedures and standards.
Monitoring and certifying time and attendance in the electronic time and attendance management system. Determining staffing levels and work schedules and approving or disapproving leave requests according to operational need. Providing administrative, procedural, training, and technical assistance to employees, judicial staff, and the public. Participating in court conferences, trainings, and meetings. Conducting staff meetings.
Serving on committees for Court, division, and branch initiatives, programs, procedures, rules, policies, and studies relevant to the unit or branch. Processing daily reconciliation of cash drawers.

This is not a federal position. The District of Columbia Courts is an independent branch of the District of Columbia Government and is not under the authority of the City Mayor or the D. C. Council. DC Courts' appropriation comes directly from Congress. All DC Courts non-judicial employees receive federal benefits for the following programs: Life Insurance, Retirement Benefits, Health Insurance and Workers Compensation.
The DC Courts leave policy is as follows: Annual Leave: New full-time employees earn four (4) hours of annual leave biweekly. After three years of service this increases to six (6) hours biweekly, and at 15 years it increases to eight (8) hours biweekly. Most military, federal and District of Columbia government service counts toward the time required to go into the next higher annual leave category.
Employees can carry over no more than 240 hours of annual leave into the next leave year. Sick Leave is used for personal medical needs, care of a family member, or adoption related purposes. Full-time employees earn four (4) hours of sick leave biweekly. This leave can be accrued without limit.
In addition to the federal health plans, the DC Courts offer employees supplemental vision and dental plans as well as a commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month. There are 26 pay periods in the year.
