Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $109,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to$142,199.00 (GS-13, Step 10). To meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 year, with possible extensions for an additional 2 years. You may be returned, at any time, to the position from which temporarily promoted, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay, and that the return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. §§ 351, 432, 752, and 771. At management's discretion, you may be permanently promoted to this position without further competition. Typical duties include: Providing field operations oversight for border security activities, including counterterrorism, anti-smuggling, anti-fraud, criminal enforcement, contraband interdiction, and related enforcement efforts; applying experience and technical knowledge as a Customs and Border Protection Officer to support inspection, examination, intelligence analysis, and law enforcement activities at ports of entry Serving as a liaison with other federal agencies, DHS and CBP managers, and other internal and external stakeholders to coordinate border security, enforcement, and compliance activities Managing and coordinating activities related to the identification, targeting, control, and examination of outbound passengers and cargo to support counterterrorism, export compliance, and border security mission objectives Promoting management accountability and operational integrity by ensuring compliance with applicable border security policies, procedures, and program requirements Establishing, assessing, and recommending program goals, objectives, performance measures, and operational improvements to strengthen border security operations and resource management If going from a LEO Covered Position to a Secondary CBPO Special Retirement Covered (SRC) Position: Please be advised that when you enter on duty in this Secondary CBPO SRC position you will no longer be covered under the Special Retirement System for Law Enforcement Officers, but will only be covered under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).
