Job Summary

This position is located at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.

Key Responsibilities

As Foreman is accountable for the day to day interment or grounds operations at Willamette National Cemetery with full responsibility for the interment, excavation and finalization of all gravesites, grounds and facilities maintenance, landscaping and equipment maintenance. In the absence of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, may be called to serve in that capacity.

Supervises the following types of Wage Grade employees in the pursuit of his/her objectives: one Cemetery Caretaker Leader-WL-4754-06; one Cemetery Caretaker Leader, WL-4754-05; one Maintenance Worker, WG-4749-08; one Gardener-WG-5003-08; three Engineering Equipment Operators-WG-5716-08; one Plumbing Worker­WG-4206-07; one Gardener, WG5003-06; four Cemetery Caretakers WG-4754-06; one Tools and Parts Attendant, WG-6904-06; two Cemetery Caretakers, WG-5, eight Cemetery Caretakers, WG-4754-04 and two Cemetery Caretakers WG-3.

Incumbent is responsible for complete renovation (grave repair) of all reopeners, set asides, and oversight of grounds maintenance. Work schedule: May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday.

All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.
