The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles AFB, CA is searching for a Chief of Protocol for SBD 3/CCP (NH-0301-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent). Description: The Chief of Protocol is the public face, diplomatic compass, and chief ceremonial architect of SBD 3. Operating with direct access to the SBD 3 Commander, you will lead high-visibility public diplomacy, international military integration, and distinguished visitor operations.
This is a highly dynamic role requiring a blend of strategic communication, international diplomacy, precise event execution, and strict federal financial stewardship. Key Duties & Core Responsibilities: - Strategic Liaison, Relationship Management & Special Initiatives: The senior Protocol Specialist represents SBD 3 and its leadership across a vast and diverse network of military, public, and civic partners.
- Command Integration, Ceremonies & Strategic Calendar Management: Serve as the trusted advisor and execution lead for all command-level engagements, maintaining direct access to the SBD 3 Commander on all protocol and engagement projects. - International Space Partnership & Global Enterprise Interoperability: With Space Force missions operating on a global scale, you will lead international protocol operations to advance interoperability across the SBD 3 enterprise.
- Financial Stewardship & Key Leader Engagements: Exercise meticulous financial oversight over official representation funds and overall branch operations, ensuring total regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is a highly articulate, diplomatic, and fiscally responsible professional who serves as a key liaison and strategic advisor to senior command leadership.
They are a communication master, capable of delivering authoritative briefings and drafting complex plans and formal correspondence on behalf of senior leaders. Possessing diplomatic expertise, they bring a deep understanding of military protocol, international customs, and official ceremonies, ideally complemented by experience collaborating with international partners.
Furthermore, they demonstrate strict fiscal competency, with a proven ability to manage public funds (specifically Operations & Maintenance and Official Representation Funds), execute budgets, and coordinate official gift programs within rigid legal and regulatory boundaries.
