Job Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist develops and recommends new policies and procedures regarding installation and use of the laboratory information system (LIS) in conjunction with the overall hospital information system (HIS). This individual provides authoritative advice and consultation on the information system as it applies to the clinical laboratory; advising on all organizational levels on functions and capabilities of the LIS.

For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and variety of range, and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Duties may include but are not limited to: Provides authoritative advice and consultation on the information system (HIS) as it applies to the clinical laboratory. Advises all organizational levels on functions and capabilities of the LIS.

Implements and maintain coding and mapping for laboratory test ordering, reporting, billing and workload recording. Analyzes emerging trends, software and technology. Serves as local expert for national software developers for testing and validating software packages. Responsible for compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Consults with and trains personnel on computer functions. Implements and monitors quality management activities related to LIS.

Develops and recommends new policies and procedures regarding the installation and use of the Laboratory information system (LIS) or the hospital information System (HIS). Implements and maintain coding and mapping for the laboratory test order, reporting, billing and workload recording systems. Analyzes emerging trends, software and technology and adopts appropriate methods for local programs to meet agency goals.

Advise all organizational levels on various aspects of the functional and capabilities of the information system. Serves as a recognized expert to provide authoritative advice and consultation on the information system. Serves as the local expert for national software developers for alpha or beta testing software packages. Carries out day-to-day operation related to laboratory computer use.

Keeps up with all National guidelines and updates to ensure service in compliance with latest LIS initiatives.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, 1500-2330, Varies Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
