Job Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities

Major duties include but not limited to: Provides screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders, as well as other Axis I conditions, with an emphasis on the application of evidence-based psychotherapy approaches proven effective for the condition of focus and the population to which assigned.

Provides screening for cognitive deficits to address specific functional questions or to determine if a referral for a complete neuropsychological evaluation or dementia assessment is needed. Provides clinical supervision to assigned psychology staff, students, trainees, and pre-doctoral interns, as part of CAVHCS APA Approved Psychology Internship Program.

Leads, facilitates and coordinates treatment planning and assigns person responsible for following-up on established goals and objectives. Directs, coordinates and instructs other professional support staff, attendants, and trainees, in patient care and rehabilitation of patients. Responsible for identification of patient problems requiring consultation with other multi-disciplinary medical center staff and making appropriate referrals.

Fully accountable for clinical practice, including entering encounters for patient visits, measuring outcomes to interventions, and meeting assigned productivity standards. Promotes patient independence and achievement of optimal health through appropriate psychosocial education and community referrals. Providing and, where appropriate, referring patients, families and significant others for counseling in health maintenance and disease prevention.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
