Job Summary

This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin, Principal Deputy Inspector General. As a Congressional Liaison, you will serve as a key advisor to agency leadership on legislative and congressional matters, providing strategic counsel and coordinating communications with Members of Congress, congressional committees, and their staff.

Major Duties

As a Congressional Liaison, you will: Assist in summarizing Congressional or legislative positions on issues of agency interest, draft written responses for information related to agency programs, or attend operational and planning meetings where discussions are held on sharing information with the Congress. Conduct extensive research and coordination with the Office of Chief Counsel regarding analysis of laws, proposed legislation, major policy questions, and controversial issues. Manage agency response to congressional requests and TIGTA's participation in Congressional hearings. Monitor and report on pending legislation, relevant committee hearings and debates/votes on the floor of the House and Senate. Monitor budget, legislative and appropriation processes, including all stages of a bill's progression from introduction to final passage. Prepare agency directives, Manual issuances, memoranda, TIGTA-wide policy statements, and other written guidelines and recommendations relating to Congressional or media relations.
