Key Responsibilities
At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Conducts quality control testing and technical analysis of concrete, soils, aggregates, and other earthen construction materials. Plans, coordinates, and performs laboratory and field testing to determine the physical and mechanical properties of construction materials.
Reviews construction plans, contract specifications, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with established requirements. Conducts inspections and assessments of construction activities, materials processing facilities, and testing operations to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions. Maintains and calibrates laboratory and field-testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Monitors contractor compliance with construction specifications, quality control requirements, and applicable safety standards. Prepares technical reports, documents testing results, and provides recommendations concerning construction materials and testing procedures.
