This vacancy is for a GS-1102-12, Contract Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-C5I CONTRACT OPS BR 2 -CG-9142-2 -KEARN WV in KEARNEYSVILLE, West Virginia.
You will serve as a Contract Specialist and be responsible for the development of acquisition strategy through contract execution, contract administration and contract closeout. The incumbent has complete responsibility to plan and recommend for execution of all contractual actions and phases for assigned projects.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Procures items or services with specialized requirements related to complex IT systems, equipment and system operation, maintenance and repair, supply and production items, various support services, aircraft/vessel parts, etc. Develops the solicitation document, publicizes the requirement, analyzes offers received, prepares a negotiation position, negotiates cost, fee or profit as well as resolves technical issues, and enters into a formal contract. Performs price/cost analysis on submitted quotes/proposals to determine if the submitted price is fair and reasonable to the Government. Monitors contractor performance through email and telephone correspondence to ensure successful completion of the contract in accordance with the established terms and conditions.
