Employee will be assigned to Dental Service, VA Medical Center, Louisville, KY, functioning as a fully qualified and experienced technician and applying a full range of Dental Laboratory services and functions.
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Performs total fabrication of full or partial dentures, and/or dental splints.
Designs, fabricates, and repairs very complex dental or intra-oral maxillofacial appliances, (including, but not limited to), partial dentures, complete dentures, immediate dentures, bite raisers, surgical templates, orthodontic appliances. Waxes, invests, boils out, cures, and deflasks acrylic bases for partial and complete dentures. Reproduces dentures with a high degree of precision and accuracy.
Bends wrought wire clasps and bars to conform to the case design outlined upon the surveyed cast. Submits articulated casts for partial denture framework fabrication and articulated die-systems to the Central Dental Laboratory upon receipt of the cast framework. Constructs and fabricates bite raisers, cleft palate obturators, fracture splints, immediate dentures, surgical template, and orthodontic appliances.
Observes dental abnormalities which may present design problems which require special treatment plans or suggestions. Provides training and basic dental laboratory instruction to clinic support staff. Researches the best materials for use in laboratory procedures involving implants, permanent soft-liners, and light cured materials. Orders and stocks laboratory supplies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
