This position is located within Indian Health Service, Dental Services Branch, Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC), Gallup, NM. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a technical expert within the specialty area of Pediatric Dentistry, the incumbent assumes responsibility for the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients in an outpatient and hospital-based dental clinic. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Performs diagnosis and treatment of complicated dental conditions requiring modification of standard techniques or the development of innovative treatment approaches. Responsible for planning, diagnosing, and carrying out a broad range of dental treatment services. Determines the type and extent of care required, referring only the most complex or unusual cases for consultation. Provides emergency services, including treatment of trauma, pain and infection.
Administers local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide when needed. Performs routine and complex tooth extractions and removal of residual root tips in both simple and complex situations. Performs root canal therapy and other pulpal therapy on the anterior and posterior teeth
