The VA Tampa Healthcare System's Dental Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Dentist. Our ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. The Dentist provides quality patient care in collaboration with other health care professionals. The incumbent will perform specific duties within his/her approved scope of practice. The Dentist assigned will provide dental screenings, cleanings, X-rays, and fillings. He/ She will also provide specialty dental procedures like root canal, restorations, and dentures. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases, injuries and malformation of the teeth, jaws and the oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures. Performing routine exams and teeth cleaning. Performing restorative procedures, including fillings and crowns. Performing comprehensive surgical care, including extractions (pulling teeth) and oral cancer screening. Performing routine and advanced prosthodontic care, including bridges, dentures, and dental implants. Performing routine and advanced periodontal care, including root canals, gum treatments, and supporting bone care. Performing oral and facial reconstruction surgery to repair damage from traumatic injury or serious illness. Other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30pm (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs). Telework: Not available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
