Job Summary
About the position: You will serve as the Deputy General Counsel with the Office of General Counsel located in Arlington, VA.
Key Responsibilities
As a Deputy General Counsel at the GS-0905-00 level some of your typical work assignments may include: Serve as the principal to the General Counsel and as a primary legal advisor to the USMS Director, Deputy Director, General Counsel, and USMS management. Represent the US Marshals Service in all courts, administrative hearings and proceedings, and labor negotiations.
Responsible for the daily management, coordination, and direction of subordinate staff engaged in the various legal, legislative, administrative, and regulatory activities of the Office of General Counsel. Draft or evaluate proposed legislation which may affect the USMS and makes recommendations regarding the legislation.
Represent the US Marshals Service in meetings and conferences with high ranking government officials, representatives from federal, state and local governments, officials from private or public organizations, and the general public on matters pertaining to the USMS to include USMS policies, procedures and operations.
Requirements & Education
Education: Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Laws LL.B. or a Juris Doctor J.D. degree. -AND- Licensure: Applicants must be an active member of the bar, duly licensed and authorized to practice law as an attorney under the laws of any state, territory of the U.S., or the District of Columbia.
