This position is located in the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, in Washington, DC. The mission of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is to detect and deter fraud, waste, abuse and misconduct in the Department of Justice (DOJ). In addition, the OIG assists DOJ managers in promoting integrity, economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of DOJ programs and operations.
The Deputy Inspector General is a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) and OIG's senior leader and provides executive leadership over the day-to-day administration and operations of the OIG. The DIG participates with the IG in establishing program policies, objectives and priorities and develops the strategic plans for accomplishing the OIG mission, including exercising the following responsibilities: Oversees critical organizational functions involving criminal investigations, inspections, audits and legal programs. Provides the necessary input on Attorney General and Congressional inquiries relating to OIG matters; Provides advice and assistance to the IG on key issues affecting the organization including political, legal, economic, social, technological and administrative factors impacting the functions and work of the OIG; Participates in the overall management and supervision of assigned resources; Assigns special projects and workload, determines staffing requirements, prepares and/ or approves budget submissions and exercises executive management authority in carrying out the functions and activities of the OIG. Performs other duties as assigned.
