The purpose of this position is to implement a comprehensive nutrition and dietetics program serving the patient population of the Sisseton Service Unit, with an emphasis on medical nutrition therapy, diabetes education, prevention, and management, and community nutrition education. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Implement a comprehensive nutrition and dietetics program serving the patient population of the Sisseton Service Unit, with an emphasis on medical nutrition therapy, diabetes education, prevention, and management, and community nutrition education. Incumbent will participate in the total service unit dietetics program, including short- and long-range program plans consistent with IHS Area and national nutrition program goals and policies.
Will provide MNT through direct patient care for a wide variety of chronic conditions, including diabetes, renal disease, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hepatic disease, carcinoma, alcoholism, infectious disease, and trauma. Will serve as the Nutrition expert for local tribal programs, families, individuals, and clinic staff.
Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), menu planning, nutritional counseling, education material development and review, program planning, in-service training, and group class coordination and facilitating. Perform other duties as assigned to support the dietetics program.
