Job Summary

Major Duties

The Director of the Army Geospatial Center (AGC) has three distinct roles with three different reporting chains. The first role, Director of the AGC, reports directly to the Deputy Commanding General, Military & International Programs, United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) with extensive latitude to guide and support the entirety of the Army's geospatial information enterprise through direct operational support and systems acquisition policy support. The Director focuses on the development, exploitation, production, and distribution of topographic, geodetic, and geospatial information, tools and services for the Army, and as directed, other Department of Defense programs and teams. The second role is the Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) is the Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA) Senior Executive Service representative responsible for collecting/validating geospatial requirements, formulating geospatial policy, setting Army Geospatial Enterprise (AGE) priorities, securing AGE resources, and synchronizing geospatial solutions at both HQDA and Secretariat levels of Army governance. The GIO has both the Geospatial Governance Board (GGB) Coordinating Staff and the Geospatial Standing Task Force as elements of the Army staff to fulfill these responsibilities. The third role serves as the Director, Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), USACE providing the Warfighter superior situational awareness through enhanced geospatial capabilities for data, analytics, information and decision frameworks in support of Army modernization. The Director of the GRL serves as the lab corporate officer and member of the ERDC Board of Directors. The Director is responsible for providing top-level leadership and direction to the scientific and engineering research and support activities of the Laboratory including the management of basic and applied research, development, and engineering programs.
