The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is looking for an experienced senior level executive to serve as theDirector, Division of Operations and Planning Standards in the Office of Electric Reliability. Under overall guidance of the OER Deputy Director, the Director will provide strategic direction in tracking, analyzing, and recommending Commission action on mandatory Reliability Standards as well technical leadership in office-wide oversight of the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO). The Director will lead a highly skilled, professional staff in addressing system disturbances and other events that impact the nation's Bulk Power System and in conducting operational and planning audits of owners and operators of the Bulk Power system. The Director will also oversee and provide expert advice on the full scope of matters relevant to FERC's collection of transmission and system data reports and analysis. Serve as Director of the Division of Operations and Planning Standards with the primary responsibility for the supervision and management of the Division. Evaluate all proposed new and modified operations and planning Reliability Standards for impacts to Bulk Power System (BPS) reliability and provide expert engineering analysis to other Commission offices. Monitor North American Electric Reliability Corporations (NERC) standards development process to determine if processes are sufficient to meet reliability requirements and advise the Commission on appropriate actions. Coordinate fact-gathering analyses of events and disturbances for event analysis or compliance investigations and oversee technical staff participation in operations and planning audits of registered entities. Develop and implement strategies for working with the ERO, industry, other government entities and other key stakeholders on ongoing and future reliability issues, including the deployment of inverter-based resources and the retirement of traditional synchronous units.
