Job Summary
This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Education Technician (Tutor) you will be responsible for coordinating tutoring services between SIPI's non-academic and academic programs to further enhance student learning and student support.
Key Responsibilities
As a Education Technician (Tutor), GS-1702-7, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning. Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies. Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to complement tutoring.
Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments. Prepare and facilitate tutoring workshops, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions for smallgroups of students. Provide feedback to students, using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
