This position is located in Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), and Facilities Operations Services Division (FOSD). The Electric Power Controller Leader performs duties related to the operation and maintenance of emergency generators ranging in size from 2 megawatts to 100 kilowatts, high/medium/low voltage switchgear, automatic transfer switches, transformers, UPS, battery stations and electrical distribution lines.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Directs daily operations by passing on work schedules, setting the team pace, and demonstrating proper methods for subordinate multi-skilled electric power controllers.
Manages resources and training by ensuring tools, blueprints, and materials are available, tracking time and attendance, and identifying on-the-job training needs. Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots electrical power generating equipment, battery systems, UPS systems, rectifier/charger systems, and electronic components of high-voltage switchgear.
Performs preventative maintenance on switchgear, automatic transfer switches, load banks, transformers, and transmission line equipment. Executes high-voltage switching operations and conducts regular facility rounds of electrical substations and switchgear to monitor and maintain proper voltages.
