You will serve as a Electrical Engineer with the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Missouri Basin and Arkansas-Rio Grande-Texas Gulf Region, Engineering Group, Mills, Wyoming Bureau of Reclamation. Pay will vary based on grade level which you're selected. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
GS-07: $71,846-$84,779 GS-09: $87,887-$103,709 GS-11: $99,954-$119,097 GS-12: $104,502-$127,443 Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Performs engineering analyses to include performing and coordinating technical planning activities; data collection (including validation and management); design; modeling and data analyses; analyses of equipment, operating conditions, and/or electrical/electromagnetic systems; troubleshooting electrical equipment and systems; and risk estimation and analyses.
Analysis includes evaluating engineering aspects of state and Federal regulatory programs, electric reliability compliance programs, and power contracts. Makes engineering recommendations and decisions based on engineering analysis for complex projects and activities with unusual or special demands. Completes and reviews engineering designs of electrical systems.
Preforms construction management and oversite of on-site construction work, including inspection and acceptance of work performed by a contractor. Provides engineering expertise of complex features/facilities. Preforms calculations for new and existing equipment type, size, capacity and ratings. Preforms analysis, troubleshooting, testing, evaluating, optimizing, and programing Industrial Control Systems.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Additional Qualifications: To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level: Specialized Experience Requirement: you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service or its non-Federal equivalent that included experience in the design, repair, testing, or modification of electrical/electronic equipment or system; included working with at least two of the following: control circuits, relay and protections circuits, electrical generation and motor equipment, PLC and computerized control equipment, communication equipment, meters, sensors, governors, transformers, and auxiliary equipment.
-OR- Education: Successful completion of at least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You must include transcripts. -OR- Combination of education and experience: You must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (in excess of the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements. Add the two percentages.
The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. You must include hours per week worked and transcripts.
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level: Specialized Experience Requirement: you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or its non-Federal equivalent that included that included experience in the design, repair, testing, or modification of electrical/electronic equipment or systems; includes lead engineering activities working with at least three of the following: control circuits, relay and protections circuits, electrical generation and motor equipment, PLC and computerized control equipment, communication equipment, meters, sensors, governors, transformers, and auxiliary equipment.
For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the work schedule requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
