Job Summary

You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN at the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department, PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF Detachment Guam.

Key Responsibilities

You will layout, connect and disconnect temporary electric power lines from dock power supply to ship's shore power terminals.

Requirements & Education

This position does not require education. Additional Information: Guam is designated as a medically underserved area. Military medical facilities offer space-available primary and limited specialty medical care; however, services are not guaranteed. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. Frequently handle objects weighing up to 44 pounds and occasionally, heavy exertion is required. Work requires frequent sitting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing, cramped and awkward positions.

Other physical requirements include visual acuity color vision, depth perception, close hand- eye or hand-eye-foot coordination, finger dexterity and keen hearing. Performs work indoors and outdoors exposing them to the prevailing weather conditions, noise, and intermittent slippery or uneven surfaces. Occasionally, work is performed in cramped areas, close confined spaces of ships and submarines with minimum light and ventilation.

They are regularly exposed to moving objects, elevations, and sharp edges with the possibility of cuts and bruises, and to noise and vibration from machines. They are also exposed to the possibility of an electric shock when working on wet surfaces. Serious injury from slipping and falling may occur while working in the dry dock, uneven surfaces, and from ladders and staging. Dirt, grease, dampness, and chemical fumes are frequently encountered.

Various protective devices such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hard hats are used. The incumbent may be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include but are not limited to fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non- ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc. The shipyard maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations to ensure employee safety and health.

These programs may include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personal protective equipment, and medical surveillance. As part of the medical surveillance programs, the incumbent may be required to take medical examinations.
