Job Summary

We are recruiting for an Electrician in Facilities Management Service at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Hospital in Montrose NY. The purpose of this position is to install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: Installs, modify, repairs, maintain troubleshoots, tests, and loads new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.

These Include secondary power distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase, and frequency requirements, to distribution panels, switchgear, power and control circuits; industrial multiphase systems; thermocouple sensors; electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm system; emergency warning systems; lightning protection systems; high intensity lighting systems with associated controls; target mechanisms; AC and DC rectification systems; galvanlo and impressed current cathodic protection systems which prevent corrosion on underground or submerged equipment and pipes: amplifier circuits and related electrical equipment.

Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering, drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment and controls that support industrial operations, computer complexes, or similar complex electrical loads.

The incumbent Is responsible for accurately completing labor job journals and work orders dally as required for Engineering-Service. He/she must prepare requests for materials and supplies. Inspects, evaluates, and performs preventive maintenance on electrical units, systems, and equipment, In accordance with established guidelines and JCAHO standards, on a scheduled or unscheduled basis, as necessary, to maintain equipment In optimum operating condition.

Prepares and maintains accurate records and documentation as required by OSHA, JCAHO, and the Department of Veterans Affairs, etc, on equipment, inspections, maintenance and repairs, etc. Traces hard-to-locate defects or problems associated with the completion of repairs and installations.

Determines and places distribution panels, boxes, fittings, and connections and install wiring, coupling, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers end other electrical devices including electrical service entrances. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0800am to 4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD02758A Physical Requirements: Repairs and installations are made from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. This requires the Incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

The work requires frequently lifting and carrying of tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up lo 20 pounds and, less often, up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, they lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 40 pounds.
