Job Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-0856-9, ELECTRONICS TECH (CYBER) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE PORTSMOUTH C5I MAINT OVERSIGHT DIVISION -EM in PORTSMOUTH, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities

You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECH (CYBER) and be responsible for providing end-to-end customer support by troubleshooting, installing, configuring, auditing, and maintaining hardware, software, incident records, and service performance in accordance with organizational standards.

The role requires independent judgment and specialized electronics, cybersecurity, risk management, service desk, and IT service-management knowledge to support shipboard systems, train crews, coordinate with stakeholders, and improve system reliability and operational safety. .Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Providing detailed input, recommendations, and expertise to the development and refinement of implementation plans Reviewing electronic and information technology (IT) programs and projects for compliance Installing, configuring, and optimizing hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for system users Expertly diagnoses and resolves customer-reported system incidents, problems, and events Utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques and escalating complex issues to senior personnel as needed Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests: If you believe you have a disability (i.e., physical or mental), covered by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended that would interfere with completing the USA Hire Competency Based Assessments, you will be granted the opportunity to request a RA in your online application.
