This position is located in Region Six, Mitigation Division. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience serving as a Project Management Officer or similar role in FEMA's Mitigation programs, leading cross-functional projects from planning through closeout, managing front office taskings, and developing project charters, road maps, and performance tracking systems.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will be managing mitigation projects and front office taskings from planning through closeout, including developing project charters, road maps, timelines, and performance tracking tools.. Typical assignments include: Supporting hazard mitigation assistance grant reviews and awards, including analysis of complex mitigation portfolios for alignment with applicable statutory, regulatory, and policy requirements. Providing technical assistance and coordination to state, local, tribal, and territorial partners on mitigation program requirements, grant processes, and risk-based project prioritization. Using data, GIS, and analytical tools to support decision-making, improve quality assurance and quality control, identify potential duplication of benefits, and track program performance. Preparing and coordinating executive-level briefings and products, facilitating working groups, mentoring staff, and recommending process improvements across the Mitigation Division. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
