Job Summary

This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Extension CEU Director to the goals and objectives of SIPI through grant writing, planning, delivering, reporting, training and evaluating research-based culturally relevant extension and continuing education programming related to agriculture, natural resources, workforce development and community development for tribal communities.

Key Responsibilities

As an Education Specialist (Extension CEU Director), GS-1701-12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Designs and delivers, appropriate educational trainings to engage tribal members, families, and communities that provide experiential learning opportunities using innovative technologies.

Designs and delivers professional development both internally and external and evaluates and build customized training and educational programs based on scholarly/scientific theory and research. Coordinates faculty and instructor engagement relevant to course offerings of continuing education (CEU). Evaluates and assesses program relevant to participation, enrollment and completion.

Manages program budget including reimbursable funds generated for operation, and secures external funding such as grants, to support and expand educational programming. Collaborates with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) agencies, county environmental and land management services, agricultural and natural resources professional organizations to provide educational programs relevant to the county.

Partners with internal and external groups, especially tribal communities, and individuals to exchange information, share resources, and engage in joint activities for the purpose of creating and conducting extension and continuing education workshops aimed at tribal members in areas targeted by SIPI and as outlined in the USDA-NIFA grant.

Requirements & Education
