Job Summary

The incumbent serves as a Facility Operations Specialist for this campus-type long-term care hospital located on 12.5 acres, with 20 buildings and over 580,000 square feet of total floor area for various use along with an additional 12 lease sites totaling more than 85,000 square feet of floor area. This position reports to the Chief of Operations and Maintenance (O&M).

Major Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to: Incumbent supports the day-to-day operations, maintenance of buildings, and building systems for the VA Sierra Nevada Heath Care System (VASNHCS) and leased space. Responsible for assisting in the development of new, or for modifying existing facility policies, procedures and/or standards as necessary to assure continued uninterrupted utility services to the facility and associated surrounding grounds areas. The incumbent evaluates the condition of all facility components such as electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), structural integrity, safety systems (fire alarms and sprinklers), and other operational systems that are essential for the smooth functioning of the facility, plants, buildings, and on-going repairs such as routine maintenance (fixing leaks or replacing worn parts) to more complex repairs involving system overhauls or upgrades. The incumbent maintains regular inspections, cleaning, servicing, repairing, and replacing parts of the facility and its systems. The incumbent generates temporary work orders, and handle emergency calls. Work Schedule: 7:30am- 4:00pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
