Job Summary

This position is part of the Office of Science - Thomas Jefferson Site Office, Department of Energy. As a Federal Project Director, you will serve as the senior Federal Project Director (FPD) and ultimate Thomas Jefferson Site Office (TJSO) authority, providing executive-level leadership, strategic direction, and final programmatic accountability for a landmark federal scientific research portfolio valued in excess of $1.1 billion.

Veterans shape the future of energy As an Federal Project Director, you will: Direct executive-level strategic execution and operational oversight for major organizational scientific and infrastructure programs. Serve as an authoritative technical expert in general engineering and physical sciences to advise executive agency leadership. Evaluate program performance metrics, Earned Value Management Systems, and project risks to determine corrective action plans.

Formulate, review, and defend organizational baseline budget requests to senior departmental officials. Champion the integration of sensitive and complex international, state and multi-laboratory partnerships, guiding projects through baselining and execution phases. Enforce compliance with Federal acquisition rules, Critical Decision milestone reviews, quality standards, and environmental safety regulations.

Requirements & Education

This vacancy has a positive education requirement. In order to be rated as qualified, you must provide copies of your college transcripts. Failure to provide copies of your college transcripts may result in a rating of "Ineligible". Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be reviewed by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR 1301 SERIES Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR Combination of education and experience: education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
