Job Summary

You will serve as a Field Unit Local (FUL) Masonry Worker at Pecos National Historical Park. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 11 1/2 months, and will be in a non-pay status at the beginning of January. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

Key Responsibilities

Assists in the maintenance , repair, and restoration of structures and surfaces constructed of adobe, stone and block requiring comprehensive knowledge and understanding of historic and prehistoric adobe and stone masonry styles. Assists in the preparation of test mixes and prepares amended and un-amended mortars according to specifications and document preservation activities.

With minimal direct supervisiorn the incumbent removes damaged portions of walls partitions or other simailar structures in preparation for repair. Caps, resets, respalls, grouts and reinforces walls, under direct supervision, so that the repaired portion closely matches the original, undamaged portions of the structure. Loads and unloads cement, soil, stone, tools and equipment, and stacks and handles stone building materials and supplies.

May perform other trades-related work such as painting and carpentry, electrical, MVO, and other simailar work on a limited, as needed basis.

There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.
