Learn more about this authority at: Direct Hire Authority These four Wildland Firefighter (Aviation) (Fire Airtanker Base Manager), GW-0456-09, positions are with the US Wildland Fire Service, working in any of the following location(s): Battle Mountain, Nevada Mountain Home, Idaho Pocatello, Idaho Winnemucca, Nevada
Key Responsibilities
As a Fire Airtanker Base Manager your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership, allocates resources, and implements activities to accomplish DOI's multicultural organization direction. Directs and oversees air base operations in support of wildland fire suppression and serves as a subject matter expert in aviation safety and retardant aircraft limitations.
Serves as the primary point of contact for airport management, contractor representatives, public affairs officials, and federal, state, tribal, and local partners regarding aviation operations. Ensures safe execution of all aviation and ground support activities, including site security, communications, aircraft movement, fueling, retardant operations, and ramp vehicle movement.
Develops and maintains comprehensive air base operations, safety, and security plans, and provides input to local aviation plans.
