Job Summary

Education and length of practice are considered through a formal pay-setting process to determine the final compensable salary. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements & submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Program Approval, award amount & eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program.

Key Responsibilities

This Primary Care GAP incumbent will provide, via both TelePrimary care and face to face, interim staffing/gap/float Primary Care Provider Coverage for all Primary Care clinics in General Medicine, Women's Health Center at Hines main campus and six (6) Hines Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), which are located in Hoffman Estates, Joliet, North Aurora, Lasalle, Kankakee and Oak Lawn Illinois.

Major Duties: Clinical Care - Provides accurate, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care. - Delivers care through face-to-face visits and Tele-Primary Care. - Provides direct patient care in the primary outpatient clinic and access clinics. Administrative & Operational Responsibilities - Maintains clinical and educational activities within Primary Care/General Medicine at Hines. - Works with and is supported by Primary Care Medicine Service leadership.

- Collaborates with the chief and deputy chief of Primary Care, clinic medical director and other staff as appropriate. - Supports operational issue resolution using logical, step-wise problem-solving. - Participates in forums where staff identify, communicate, and resolve issues related to Medical Service operations and VISN-wide mandates. - Performs other duties as assigned.

Compliance, Documentation & Managed Care - Demonstrates a basic understanding of managed care practices, including healthcare finance, billing, coding, and documentation. - Ensures timely completion of medical records, including daily clinic notes with accurate documentation and coding. - Participates regularly in peer review activities.

Safety & Regulatory Practices - Follows established safety practices and promptly reports unsafe conditions, unsafe practices, or occupational illness/injury to Primary Care leadership. - Adheres to all safety and health standards, regulations, and required work practices. - Uses proper protective equipment as required. Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Requirements & Education

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted.

Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated.

NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities.

The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
