You will serve as the Volunteer-In-Parks Coordinator at Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, MS. Please visit find a park for additional park information. This is a Permanent, Competitive, Full-time appointment.
At the full performance level (GS-07) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the park-wide volunteer program including the assessment of needs, recruitment, training, placement, monitoring, safety, overall program evaluation and parkwide recognition. Serves as the primary contact and liaison for potential and current volunteers and volunteer groups and responsible for developing and maintaining new volunteer partnerships in support of the parks. Plans, develops, and organizes special volunteer project activities/events and coordinates logistical and administrative elements associated with such projects/events. Coordinates large scale volunteer activities such as quarterly parkwide volunteer days. Works with park staff to identify and plan new volunteer opportunities and initiatives. Responsible for monitoring, tracking and reporting on volunteer hours and volunteer program budget.
