This position is part of the Department of War (DoW), Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The incumbent will be responsible for:serving as a mid-level Systems Engineer managing the design,development, integration, and performance requirements for the MDA Space Capabilities (DCS) portfolio;leads the definition of element architectures, kill chains, and system-level risk identification, assessment, andremediation across complex space and ground control systems.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Acq Demo Business and Technical Management to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
As a General Engineer at the NH-0801-3 broadband level, some of your typical work assignments may include: System Engineering & Architecture: Serves as a mid-level Systems Engineer managing the design,development, integration, and performance requirements for the MDA Space Capabilities (DCS) portfolio;leads the definition of element architectures, kill chains, and system-level risk identification, assessment, andremediation across complex space and ground control systems.
Model-Based Systems Engineering(MBSE): Directs the development and implementation of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)methodologies across all DCS Programs and Projects, establishing a standardized engineering framework tosupport Discriminating Space Sensor, Space-Based Interceptor, and Event-Based Sensor initiatives.
Technical Governance & Lifecycle Reviews: Provides critical engineering oversight during high-stakesspace system milestones, actively guiding programs through Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), CriticalDesign Reviews (CDR), Flight Readiness Reviews (FRR), on-orbit anomaly resolutions, and regularSystems Engineering Review boards.
Test Integration & Data Analytics: Leads System Integration and Test(SIT) operations for space/ground communications, spacecraft, and launch planning; contributes directly tothe MDA Integrated Master Test Plan (IMTP) and drives element-level test data analysis to facilitate data-driven decision-making and Real-World Event analytics.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Partnerships:Facilitates critical battle rhythm events, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and Working Groups;coordinates seamlessly with key industry and inter-agency partners, including Space Dynamics Laboratory,Aerospace Corporation, MIT-Lincoln Labs, MITRE, AFRL, SNL, and USAFA to ensure cohesive systemsolutions.
