Job Summary

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). OJP provides federal leadership, funding, and other critical resources to directly support law enforcement, combat violent crime, protect American children, provide services to American crime victims, and address public safety challenges, including human trafficking and the opioid crisis.

Key Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for a GS- 1109-13 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Manages a diverse range of complex grants and cooperative agreements in the area of delinquency prevention, juvenile justice, youth violence prevention and intervention, child victimization, offering advice, guidance, and information on grants and agreements involving unique challenges and processes.

Serves as a technical expert in grants and/or cooperative agreement management processes, providing advice and guidance to resolve, implement, or manage issues that involved major areas of uncertainty in approach or methodology. Serve as a representative on intergovernmental panels, committees, and working groups that focus on analyzing grant-making processes and developing juvenile justice-related issues and topics.

Serves as a subject matter expert in juvenile justice system, child protection, youth-focused and youth victimization programs and issues. Provides training or technical assistance to grantees to ensure effective project implementation and success of programming. Serves as a technical expert in the evaluation of applications for complex discretionary grants and cooperative agreement Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs).

These may include multiple processes and sub-grant elements, and require administration over several years, with data collection across multiple sites. Designs and develops grant NOFOs for grants and/or cooperative agreements, utilizing an in-depth understanding of issues and problems in the provision of services for youth to support implementation of agency priorities and program plans.
