This position is in the Nutrition and Dietetics Department of Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC). The position provides nutrition screening and meal service support for hospitalized patients, assists with medical nutrition therapy, and provides basic education on non-therapeutic diets to patients and staff. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Screens hospitalized patients for nutrition risk, documents findings in the medical record, transcribes diet orders and preferences, and modifies menus to meet therapeutic requirements and patient needs. Monitors food service quality and accuracy, develops meal cards and menus, prepares diet-related paperwork and reports, and promotes patient satisfaction through meal service surveys and visitation. Serves as a liaison between patients, food service staff, Clinical Dietitians, and the healthcare team; communicates nutrition screening results and diet information and documents nutrition education in the Electronic Health Record. Documents patient education in the medical record, provides group education to patients and staff, and counsels patients on simple diets while incorporating cultural and personal preferences. Collaborates with Clinical Dietitians, food service staff, and the healthcare team to ensure effective meal service and receives guidance on diet orders, menus, and nutrition education.
